Dr. Stephen Gilliland

University Professor, Claremont Graduate University

Dr. Stephen W. Gilliland is a University Professor at Claremont Graduate University, teaching in the Division of Behavioral and Organizational Sciences and Drucker School of Management. He develops leadership programs and chairs the organizational psychology program. Previously, he held the Peter and Nancy Salter Chair in Healthcare Management at the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management, where he served in various leadership roles for 24 years.

A Fellow in the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology and recipient of its Early Career Award, Stephen has authored over 50 publications on managerial fairness, organizational justice, leadership ethics, and HR decision-making. His book Pushing Up explores leadership and purpose, supported by his TEDx talk on the same topic.

Stephen has delivered leadership training worldwide for organizations like DP World, BHP Billiton, Microsoft, and Kaiser Permanente. He currently serves as Co-Chief IO Psychologist at Safer Hire, a pre-hire screening service.
