How to Apply for the Master's in Hospitality Management

At EHL, our admissions process places strong emphasis on academic readiness. We look for candidates who bring a solid intellectual foundation and the capacity to succeed in a rigorous graduate‑level curriculum. By requiring that, we ensure that every student enters the program with shared competencies in management, finance, operations, economics, analytics, and industry fundamentals. This academic baseline allows the cohort to progress cohesively and engage deeply with the MiHM curriculum.
A-HES Subsidy

Through the financial agreement between EHL and the Haute Ecole Spécialisée de Suisse occidentale (HES-SO), eligible students can benefit from the A-HES subsidy.
This initiative is available from the first year of the Master’s in Hospitality Management program and supports students meeting specific residency and eligibility criteria.
Admissions Requirements for the Master's in Hospitality Management

Professional
English Language
Candidates must hold a recognized bachelor’s degree in hospitality, tourism, or business. Applicants whose degree is outside the hospitality field are required to complete the pre-requisite Hospitality bridge module prior to the start of the MiHM program, representing up to 10 ECTS credits in addition to the 90 ECTS needed to earn the MiHM degree as part of their academic requirements.
Additionally, depending on the results of EHL’s academic assessment, an accounting/finance summer course may be required to ensure full readiness for the program.
Candidates must have a minimum of six months of hospitality or service‑industry work experience (including internships), ensuring they enter the program with a solid foundation of relevant, real‑world exposure.
English communication skills are essential for success in our programs. That’s why all applicants need to demonstrate a minimum C1 level in speaking, writing, reading, and listening.
You must demonstrate English language proficiency with one of the following official test scores:

You may qualify for a waiver from this English testing requirement if:
1) You have obtained a university-level degree (Bachelor's or Master's Level) in English meeting the following conditions:

A full-time degree or diploma that lasted at least nine months,
-
Was offered by a recognized institution,
-
Was taught and assessed entirely in English, and
-
Was completed within two years of your intended program start date.
2) If you’ve worked professionally in English, meeting the following conditions:
-
You have at least two years of full-time work experience in English,
-
You used English daily for reading, writing, listening, and speaking,
-
You worked in a professional environment that required clear and effective communication, and You held that position within the past two years (i.e., it ended recently or is still ongoing).
Please note: EHL reserves the right to request an official English test score at any time, even if you qualify for a waiver.

Application Deadline
Application deadlines for next September intake:
May 31, 2026 – Deadline for candidates who require a visa to study in Switzerland
June 15, 2026 – Deadline for candidates who do not require a visa
Applying early gives you the advantage of securing your seat and time to prepare for your studies.
Application Process
Step 1. Online Application
All of these documents must be submitted electronically via the online application form, except for the original copy of your transcripts and diploma, which you will be required to provide later:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Transcript
- English proficiency exam
- CV
- Motivation Letter (written by the candidate)
- Passport picture
- Letter of reference/Letter of recommendation (can be provided by an academic figure, such as a former university teacher, or by a previous employer as a work reference).
An application fee of CHF 220 will be required to complete your application.
Step 2. Admissions Interview
Once we receive your full application, the Admissions Commission will evaluate it and let you know if you are selected for an interview. Interviews are 45 minutes and will be conducted via videoconference.
Step 3. Final Decision
Following the interview, the Admissions Commission will make a final decision and contact you with an answer.
