Admissions Requirements for the MBA for Hospitality and Service Industries

English Language

A recognized Bachelor’s degree.

 

Exceptional candidates without a Bachelor’s degree may be considered based on a minimum of five years of full-time managerial experience and proven ability to succeed at the postgraduate level. Admission by portfolio follows an additional review process and requires final approval by the Program Director.

A minimum of three years of full-time, post-bachelor’s professional experience, with demonstrated leadership potential managing teams and/or projects.  


Note: Internships, placements, and experience gained before your bachelor’s degree do not count toward this requirement.

English communication skills are essential for success in our programs. That’s why all applicants need to demonstrate a minimum C1 level in speaking, writing, reading, and listening.

You must demonstrate English language proficiency with one of the following official test scores:

  • IELTS Academic: Overall 7.0 | Speaking & Listening: 7.0
  • Cambridge C1 Advanced: Grade B | Speaking & Listening: Grade B
  • TOEFL iBT: Overall 100 | Speaking & Listening: 25
  • Duolingo English Test: Overall 130 | Speaking & Listening: 130
  • TOEFL Essentials: Overall 10 | Speaking & Listening: 10

You may qualify for a waiver from this English testing requirement if:

1) You have obtained a university-level degree (Bachelor's or Master's Level) in English meeting the following conditions:

  • A full-time degree or diploma that lasted at least nine months,
  • Was offered by a recognized institution,
  • Was taught and assessed entirely in English, and
  • Was completed within two years of your intended program start date.

2) If you’ve worked professionally in English, meeting the following conditions:

  • You have at least two years of full-time work experience in English,
  • You used English daily for reading, writing, listening, and speaking,
  • You worked in a professional environment that required clear and effective communication, and
  • You held that position within the past two years (i.e., it ended recently or is still ongoing).

Please note: EHL reserves the right to request an official English test score at any time, even if you qualify for a waiver.

Application Process

Step 1. Account Creation

Click on "start your application" and submit the form to create your EHL account.

You will receive an email with your EHL credentials and a link to access the online application portal.

Step 2. Online Application

All documents must be submitted through the online application portal:

  • Curriculum Vitae / Résumé
  • Copies of diplomas and transcripts (in English)
  • Personal statement (minimum 500 words)
  • Proof of English proficiency (if applicable)
  • Copy of your passport(s)
  • One recent employer’s reference or work certificate
  • One letter of recommendation.

When you have uploaded all the required documents, submit your application and pay your application fee of CHF 175.

Step 3. Admissions Interview

Once you submit your application, our Admissions Team will carefully review it to assess your eligibility, motivation, and overall fit for the MBA program.

If your application meets the eligibility requirements, you will be invited to an interview. This conversation helps us learn more about your goals, leadership potential, and how you can contribute to the program’s learning community.

Step 4. Final Decision

Following the interview and academic review, you will receive the final decision by email.
Successful candidates will receive an offer letter with details on the next steps to secure their seat and complete their enrollment.

June 15, 2026 – For the August intake
